Replacing the CV Boot and Driver's Drive Shaft on 1977 Eldorado

OK, I thought I would answer my own question for those of you who looked but could not answer it. The answer is Yes and No. Yes you can damage the CV boot by forcing it, but No it should not slip. The problem expected would be a torn boot rather than a slipped band. While it is possible, the odds are that the band was insufficiently secured on the new part.

I opted to replace the drive axle rather than try and clean up all that grease. It cost me nothing but time and sore hands. Of course, now the lower ball joint needs replacing....it is always something. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />
