Mandi:
Have a great wedding and marriage, and get ready for some flack from this group, before they remove your message.
You see, the only "Classic" Chevies are turquoise and white '57 convertibles, not the four door sedan you are looking for.
Good luck finding the car!

You mean the red '57 convertibles aren't ? Boy is that guy I sold mine to gonna be pissed. I gave him a CCCA application and everything.
" PLEASE LIMIT 'POSTS' IN THIS FORUM TO

Yeah...yeah...I know...given the quality of public education
today...it is MOST unfair and bigoted of us to expect people
to be able to read at all, much less understand what they read....

OK guys before I give this one the big hook, let me explain why I have been slow on the trigger.
Some of our members do in fact own 57 chevies, granted probably not 4 door sedans, but this girl is just trying to get married here, so i left it up for a few days. just think of the wonderful exposure we would get if soemone who happened upon her heartfelt plea actually coughed up the car. The moment will live in her memory for ever! Everyone who attends this wedding will hear about what a great club we have here and sure enough some day soemone will actually get a real full classic as a result of all of this HA HA HA
I am at home so hence the anon signature. I will move this tomorrrow, because we all know in reality her chances of finding the car are better in other forums, and we dont want the negative feelings generated if she actually thinks we have this car but just don't want to cough it up.
Interesting how rare 4 door sedans are becoming. guess they are all getting parted for coupes or convertibles.

Shawn!, I'd cut the top off my '56 wagon and change the front fenders to '57's just to have chance to go back to the French Quarter, IF it wasn't for this dang work thing I'm involved in. Man, The last time down there, I remember daiquiri machines right in the side of the walls, half naked girls hanging over the second story railing, party down!!!! Whee-Ha! Man, I'm tired I'm going to bed!

Well, I've read the comments and I've actually gotten a laugh or two out of them. I appreciate the help, and yes, I'm still searching. The red and white 4-door I'm seeking may not officially be called a "classic", but I know I've seen them driving around for Cruisin the Coast and I know they exist, but I'm just not looking in the right places for an owner. I've been searching since August and have found two people who would be willing to drive -- a lady in Baton Rouge with a 4-door turquoise and white and a gentleman from Mississippi with a 2-door custom purple 55 Bel Air. So if you must remove my request, I won't hold any hard feelings. I understand -- you've got to do what you've got to do. But hey...Thibodaux is only an hour away from the French Quarter...like you said...Daquiri Machines and lots of b**bs
But they'll probably have that at my wedding reception too. It's going to be in Chackbay and those girls get pretty crazy...
Thanks Shawn for the help. You're a good one...
Mandi,
Thanks for checking in, and saving me having to email or call you. If you havent already, I would post this in the AACA general forum, probably more chevy owners there. I can move it if you want me to, but this has become such a delightful discussion I am inclined to leave it up!
This party sounds almost worth buying such a car in order to participate! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/icons/cool.gif" alt="" />

It's already posted in the AACA forum. No response...oh well. Maybe I'm just not being patient enough.

I had the strongest cup of coffee ever in my life in Thibodaux. The lady who made it ran it through the coffee maker at least twice before she would let me have some.
Have you checked with any of the limo services in the New Orleans area? Sometimes they have cars like these, and might be able to help.
Lots of old car owners are hesitant to provide cars for weddings and other functions because we all tend to use rather restrictive collector car insurance. Frequently hiring out your car is strictly prohibited by the policy. You might want to check this out if you do find a car. If the unthinkable happened and you were involved in an accident on your wedding day, it would be good to find that there was valid insurance in place.
Have a great party!
Bet that coffee was Community!!!
There is one limo service in Houma that has an old Rolls Royce (spelling?) limo for hire. That's the only one I know of. I haven't really made any phone calls to limo services b/c I don't want to spend $500 for a car for one hour!!! They'll get you that way...I'm sure you know!
I did hear something about the insurance too. That is something I will have to check on...
Thanks for the info. It was very helpful.
Next time you're in town you need to take a trip to Debbie's Antiques...the new coffee shop in town. Try the Milky Way Latte...yummy yummy yummy! ![]()
Hi Mandi !
Good luck to you - I am sure all old car buffs who are aware of your request, are wishing you the best, and, as you see above, are trying to come up with ideas for you.
As you can see, my smart alec comments accomplished what I intended - they moved your request for assistance to a portion of this 'site' where, hopefully, your request will have exposure to those who can help you with the kind of car, and the era of car that you are interested in. As you now know, THIS "aint the place"...!
I can assure you that while most of us with the so called "high dollar" classics ordinarily would not participate, you sound so nice, that I BET you if any of us lived anywhere near you, we would offer to help.
Unfortunately...you are just a bit far from Big Springs, Arizona....!
Again, I suspect I speak for everyone in this forum when I say "good luck...and our best wishes"..!
Pete Hartmann
You guys are just so nice...thanks for all the help and advice. I'll keep lookin'!!!
Thanks for the well wishes! ![]()
For those of you who may have still been trying to help, I just wanted to let you know that I have found a car...not red, not white, but midnight blue. It's a beautiful 4-door '57 owned by a couple who live right down the street from the office that I work. They stumbled upon my request in their car club's newsletter and called me. I went to take a look at the car and it's beautiful! The have agreed to drive for the wedding...they do that kind of thing quite often from what they told me. They said that they didn't spend all that money for their baby to sit and collect dust...they want to show it off!
So again, thanks for the help. I really do appreciate it!!!
Mandi
